Dr. Levine is an expert in APA and Chicago writing requirements.
He has edited numerous doctoral dissertations. Both as an academic and writer/editor, he has been particularly interested in encouraging students (both undergraduate and graduate) to publish their academic work. He advised them on the substance and style of their work and directed them to publishing markets. Some of these students were successful in achieving their publication goal.

My publications include not only specialized academic works in political science for a professional audience, but writing directed to the college student, young adults, and the general public, as well. My work consists of books; articles for journals, magazines, newspapers; and book reviews.

Feedback
"Herb brought out the best in my book. He has extraordinary talent in copyediting and I was fortunate to obtain his services. After the copyediting was completed, the book reads smooth as glass. The words disappear and the content becomes the only focus for the reader. Herb is gracious in both his copyediting and interaction -- and always timely. It was all I could do to keep up with him -- what a wonderful experience. I have four more books in the series and my only concern is whether Herb will be available. He added amazing value to my book and I will always be grateful to him for his work." — Pete Myers
"I am impressed with this network. I wasn’t expecting this kind of a quick response from multiple, well-qualified editors. I was really surprised after hearing from a few consultants. I believe this is the best approach in the sense that all consultants must be equally competent. However, this system makes it possible for the client to pick the consultant who actually understands the meaning of the client’s write up. This enhances quality of the editing work." — J. Cedric Woods, University of Connecticut
"I found Herbert’s work to be superlative and the turn around time was very fast. He is an asset to your [network]. The only thing I regret is not knowing about your [network] and Herbert earlier in my career!" Contact information on request
"Dr. Levine was excellent – provided me with feedback very quickly, and was very helpful. Should have used this service 6 months ago – saved an enormous amount of stress as I was seriously considering shelving my thesis!! I also really appreciate the fact that he is there to support if anything should come back after the review -- realizing this is not likely to happen but it is nice to know you have an advocate." Lynda Wilson-Hare
"Herbert Levine was outstanding. His editing comments made it very clear that he spent a great amount of concentrated effort on the project, and he is clearly an exceptional scholar. He returned his comments 3 days before the deadline. I could not have asked for a better experience!" Laurie Sandefer
"I don’t know what I would have done without Dr. Levine. He is amazing. He not only got work to be back on time, but was able to do work on a last minute basis because of my due date. Thanks a million, thanks a billion! Without Dr. Levine my work would have not been at an acceptable level due to grammatical errors as well as APA errors, among other editing help he gave me." Contact information on request.
"Initially I was resistant to the idea that I needed an APA editor, but Dr. Levine's attention to detail and knowledge of APA formatting indeed provided a valuable service that will get my proposal through the review process in a timely manner." K. Sunny Liston, University of Phoenix

It is a mistaken notion that freelance editors work "on spec" (speculation) with no payment to the editor. It is basically asking the editor to work for free. There's no guarantee that a book will see a profit (or even be published). The editors posted here do not work on spec.
Note: Price quotes and time estimates for individual editors cannot be given over the phone or via chat. This is a network of freelance editors with varying prices and work schedules (see our FAQ). To obtain a price quote please follow the procedures listed on our quotes page.
Contact live support if you do not receive a response within three hours. It is possible that your submission was not received. You may also page the network coordinator by leaving voicemail or sending a fax to 469-789-3030.
Please be as complete as
possible in representing your project's scope and size so you will receive
the most accurate estimate.
